The brief

What the client wanted

The client wanted wall-to-wall storage in a bedroom where ready-made wardrobes left awkward gaps. We designed a fitted unit to use the full width and height of the wall, with hanging space, shelving and an open side section for display and everyday items.

How we did it

Step by step, from the first day on site to the finished result.

Step 1

Building the main structure

The carcass was built on site from moisture-resistant MDF panels, levelled and fixed to the wall.

Step 2

Joining and aligning the units

Both wardrobe sections were joined, aligned and secured so the doors would sit flush.

Step 3

Side shelving

Open shelves were added on the side for extra storage and a lighter look.

Step 4

Making the shaker doors

Shaker-style doors were made from MDF panels, with the frame detail routed and sanded.

Step 5

Door fitting

Doors were hung on concealed soft-close hinges and adjusted for even gaps.

Step 6

Painting and finishing

Everything was filled, sanded and painted in a soft colour for a clean, modern finish.

The result

A seamless fitted wardrobe that looks like part of the room, with far more storage than a freestanding unit and no wasted space.
