Do I need planning permission for an extension?
Many single-storey rear extensions are permitted development: up to 3 metres deep on a terraced or semi-detached house (4 metres on a detached), or up to 6 or 8 metres under the prior-approval scheme. Side and double-storey extensions often need planning permission. We advise at the survey and can manage the application with your architect.
How long does a house extension take?
A straightforward single-storey rear extension usually takes 8 to 12 weeks on site. Wrap-around and double-storey extensions take 12 to 20 weeks depending on size and finish.
Do you do the foundations and drainage yourselves?
Yes. Our team carries out groundworks, drainage, foundations and all structural work, which keeps the programme under control.
Will you get Building Regulations approval?
Yes. All extensions are built to current Building Regulations, inspected during the build and signed off with a completion certificate.
