Duration

The brief

What the client wanted

The existing roof had reached the end of its life and the client wanted more natural light. We built a new timber roof structure, installed a fully bonded waterproof membrane on the flat section, and fitted a large skylight.

How we did it

Step by step, from the first day on site to the finished result.

Step 1

Work begins on the new roof

The old covering was stripped and the new roof construction started.

Step 2

Timber structure in progress

New rafters and joists were cut and fixed to create the roof structure.

Step 3

Structure completed

The timber structure finished and ready for waterproofing.

Step 4

Flat roof membrane

A waterproof membrane was installed on the flat section for a long-lasting, leak-free roof.

Step 5

Skylight installed

The skylight was fitted and finished inside, bringing daylight into the room below.

The result

A sound, insulated, watertight roof and a much brighter room, all signed off and ready for decoration.
